Authorities are asking for the public’s help with any information they may have after a Marshalltown convenience store was held up by a masked gunman over the weekend.
According to a police press release, authorities responded to the Git & Go convenience store, 3000 S. Center St., following a report that a store clerk was robbed by a man with a pistol at about 1:25 a.m. Saturday.
Lt. Kiel Stevenson told the T-R that the clerk reported a black man, standing about 6 feet tall and wearing a mask, entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.
The clerk complied and the suspect left with an undetermined amount of cash and other store items.
Stevenson said authorities are still reviewing video surveillance footage from store cameras to determine if the suspect was on foot or had arrived by another means of transportation.
Stevenson said it appears there were no other employees or patrons in the store at the time of the robbery.
The MPD is asking members of the public who may have any information to contact the MPD or submit tips via Marshall County Crime Stoppers by calling (641) 753-1234, via text by texting the word “marshall” followed by the tip to CRIMES (274637), or online at www.marshallcountycs.com. All tips are completely anonymous and could earn a reward of up to $1,000 if the tip results in an arrest.
